A 19th-century midlands lace bobbin hand-turned from bone with spiral decoration along the shaft. This would originally have been filled with wired decoration.
The head and tail are complete with no chips or defects, and the overall condition is commensurate with its age. It has an antique spangle. We do not add or change spangles on antique bobbins, and so this is the spangle the bobbin had when it came to us.
The bobbin measures 90mm long (excluding spangle) and c.5.5mm in diameter (widest section).
